The year’s book, in progress

APML 2026-2027

A year being written: the info session, World Cup by APML, Associations Week and what comes next.

27 pages

A book by APML, the Association of Moroccan Polytechnic Students of Lausanne

Foreword

This book is written as the year goes on: each event adds a chapter, with its photos, as soon as it has taken place. Come back and leaf through it: it grows with us.

The year got off to a strong start: an info session for new students, our first football tournament and a stand at Associations Week, all in September.

Info session: new students at EPFL

Everything we wish we had been told when we arrived at EPFL, in one evening.

On Tuesday 1 September 2026, before the start of term, APML welcomed new students in room MA B1 11: everything we wish we had been told when we arrived at EPFL, in one evening.

On the programme: passing first year, with advice subject by subject, life in Lausanne, housing and transport, driving licences, health insurance, associations and opportunities at EPFL.

The room was full, and the questions carried on in the hall, over pizza.

World Cup by APML

APML’s first football tournament: sixteen teams and a day of matches facing the Alps.

On Saturday 19 September 2026, sixteen teams met at the Dorigny sports centre for the first World Cup by APML: group stage in the morning, quarter-finals, semi-finals and the final in the afternoon, facing Lake Geneva and the Alps.

Flags mixed on the pitch: Egypt, Poland, Serbia, Afghanistan, Ukraine, Lebanon and, of course, Morocco. The day ended with the trophy and the medals.

A second edition is planned for the spring semester.

Associations Week

Moroccan tea, msemen and a quiz on Morocco: the APML stand under the Rolex Learning Center.

On Tuesday 22 and Thursday 24 September, over lunch, APML ran its stand under the Rolex Learning Center for EPFL’s Associations Week.

On the menu: mint tea poured from high up, msemen, sellou and Moroccan pastries, à la carte or as the Discovery and Gourmet deals, and a quiz on Morocco with prizes to win. Behind the stand, under the Moroccan flag, plenty of new faces.

Making the most of your year at EPFL

What older students tell new ones, every autumn.

Working

Everything happens in the first weeks: don’t wait for the exams to get to work. An hour a day beats an all-nighter.

Past exams are your best friends. Do them under real conditions, timer in hand, then compare with the solutions.

If a subject is slipping away from you, say so early: to the assistants, to other students, to APML. Someone has been through it before.

Living

Join an association, ours or another: that is where you make friends for all the years that follow.

Come to the talks: asking a minister or a business leader a question is a rare opportunity, and a fine memory.

Do some sport: the Dorigny sports centre offers dozens of activities, and the lake is a stone’s throw away.

And call your parents. They will be glad.

To be continued

This book is not finished, and neither is the year. See you at the next event to write what comes next together.

All the year’s photos are also on the event pages.
